Privacy Policy
FES-Bot (flatearth.chat) is a free, satirical flat-earth debate chatbot. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we use it.
What we collect
- Chat messages — Text you send to FES-Bot and the AI replies, so the service can work and improve reliability.
- Session ID — A random ID stored in your browser (
sessionStorage) to group messages from the same visit. It is not used to track you across sites. - Email (optional) — Only if you choose to enter it for the leaderboard. Not required to chat.
- Technical data — Standard server and security logs from our host (Cloudflare), such as IP address, request time, and browser type, to keep the site running and secure.
What we do not collect
- We do not require an account, password, or real name to use the chat.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not use advertising trackers on the chat itself.
How we use your data
- To generate AI responses via our language-model provider (Groq).
- To store chat history and optional leaderboard entries in our database (Cloudflare D1).
- To display aggregate stats (e.g. total chat count).
- To operate, secure, and debug the website.
Third-party services
We rely on trusted providers to run FES-Bot:
- Cloudflare — hosting, database, and security.
- Groq — AI chat completions. Messages you send are transmitted to Groq to generate replies. See Groq's privacy policy.
- Buy Me a Coffee — optional donations and sponsorships. Payments and messages there are governed by Buy Me a Coffee's policies, not this site.
- Google Fonts — typography may be loaded from Google when you visit the site.
Retention
Chat logs and optional emails may be kept for as long as needed to operate the service, maintain the leaderboard, and prevent abuse. We may delete old data periodically without notice.
Your choices
- Do not enter an email if you do not want to appear on the leaderboard.
- Clear your browser storage to remove your local session ID.
- Contact us (via Buy Me a Coffee) to ask about data tied to your email, if you provided one.
Children
FES-Bot is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
